It’s Luke!

It's Luke! 1

It's Luke! 3

It's Luke! 4

This little man is the reason Snow Joy has been quiet for three months. He is our fabulous fourth, and I have hunkered down during the cold winter to enjoy him and the precious baby stage once again. Yesterday he turned three months, and I do feel like we’re moving on to the next stage now; that fourth trimester is over and his personality and preferences have started to shine through. After some difficult colic and reflux during the first ten weeks, I finally had a moment of clarity that perhaps there was a milk overload issue going on. Once I rearranged some nursing routines, he’s settled into a cheerful little guy who loves to mostly sleep, with some fun laughs in between naps.

I will say that after three girls, there was some slight intimidation on my part as to mothering a son. But this Luke? He fits right close and perfect. I didn’t know the sweetness of a mama and her little boy, and now it is awe-striking how familiar our bond is.

He is a cuddler for sure, which helps him to fit into our family. We are a family of cuddlers. In fact, he has a little shirt that says “Duke of Cuddles”, and so naturally his nickname has become “Luke the Duke”. He has just started to take naps in his crib, but besides that, he likes to stay comfy and close. As soon as Keith gets home from work he usually puts on the Sleepy Wrap and wears Luke until the later evening, where he then spends the rest of the night in our close little Co-Sleeper.  Do you see the theme of coziness in our Luke? It’s a treasured gift to have such a snuggler, I must say!

This beautiful quilt was a gift from my mom – she has made a quilt for each of her grandchildren so far. She spends precious time picking out fabrics and piecing together the pattern she picks out for each child, and then lovingly quilting and binding it together.
