Yarning Along with Ginny over at small things:
“Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?”
This is the first pregnancy that I’ve been a knitter, and I have so enjoyed preparing for our new little one through the use of my needles and some pretty fabulous yarn. I’ve splurged on the quality, because how couldn’t I want the very softest wool for that sweet newborn skin? So far, a sleep sack that will also double as a diaper cover (after it’s been lanolized), sock booties and hat have been completed, and I’ve just started working on a soaker cover. A few more of the covers need to still be knit to get to the number I need for our cloth prefolds…
Preparations for Baby are also underway in regards to food. We have acquired a small chest freezer for the garage, and my grand intention is to fill it in the next week or two with food that we’ll eat right after the birth. Keith really does so much around the house and with the kids, but he is no chef. His idea of cooking is to order out, which tends to quickly get old, so if I can have some food stocked up and ready to go, then our stomachs (and wallets!) will be much happier! This book, Not Your Mother’s Make Ahead & Freeze Cookbook, looks like a winner because the author uses mostly whole, real foods – no cans and processed foods – and has a detailed plan of action, as well as grocery lists all laid out, which sounds pretty perfect to my tired brain. In fact, if this goes well the first time, I may want to start cooking like this every month!
Does anyone have any experience in cooking and freezing meals? I’m all ears!
